With the Can Sofa, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec seek to go beyond the creation of a practical, elegant and comfortable design. The intention is to reinvigorate the whole idea of the sofa, from something inherently complicated to something simple, relaxed and accessible. The sofa comes flat-packed and can be easily assembled at home from three basic elements – frame, cover and cushions.

100% aniline leather
Sense is an aniline leather, that is to say a leather which has undergone no surface treatment, or very little, and thus retains the natural appearance and very soft surface of the leather. Natural markings may be present and contribute to its exclusive appearance. The untreated or lightly treated surface of aniline leather allows the leather to breathe, resulting in very high seating comfort. Aniline leather is susceptible to stains and will eventually darken and create a patina. It just makes the leather more exclusive. Only hides of the best sorting level are used for aniline leather.

Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec
The Bouroullec brothers, Ronan (born in 1971) and Erwan (born in 1976), grew up in Quimper, France. They studied at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Cergy-Pontoise, respectively. In 1999, they became partners and founded their own Paris-based design studio. Their work ranges from small utilitarian objects to big architectural projects. In addition to the design of domestic and office furniture, vases, porcelain dishware, jewelry and diverse home accessories, a primary focus of their work is the design and organization of interior space.
Throughout their celebrated career, Studio Bouroullec has collaborated with renowned brands such as Vitra, Magis, Alessi, Samsung and HAY. Their work has been exhibited throughout the world including the Design Museum (London), Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago & Los Angeles) and the Arts Décoratifs (Paris).
