The famous Danish designer Verner Panton created the Spiegel wall lamp in 1969 as part of a larger project: to completely furnish the headquarters of the investigative magazine Der Spiegel in Hamburg. This project is one of the most remarkable examples of Panton's interior design, in a very pop art style. And it is one of the few that still exist, at least in part.
The versatility of this lamp allows it to be used as wall and ceiling lamp, alone or in groups, with wire and switch or directly mounted as hard wire into the wall. Many combinations can then be imagined.
The Spiegel wall/ceiling lamp is made of aluminum with a brushed effect that gives it a matt and slightly glossy appearance. Its large square shape has in its center a round recess, like a bowl, which hosts the light source. A round lampshade covers the bulb to diffuse a very nice, soft, slightly subdued and glare-free light. This very sculptural lamp is suitable for all kind of interiors, whether public or private. It will fit perfectly in an entrance, a corridor or why not on the wall of a large hall.

Verner Panton (1926-1998) was an inspirational and colourful personality. A unique person with a special sense of colours, shapes, light function and room.
Verner Panton studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen before going on to work at Arne Jacobsen’s architectural practice. He set up his own design studio in 1955.
Over the course of his career, Verner Panton introduced a series of modern lamps and furniture with personalities unlike any of his Scandinavian contemporaries. With a remarkable faith in the unlimited possibilities of the form, he worked successfully to create a new set of theories about how lighting and furniture should work and how they should influence its surrounding.
