Lampe Journey

With the Journey lamp, Signe Hytte wanted to interweave geometry and nature by setting a lunar sphere in an earthy rectangle.

Made of opaline glass, the lampshade diffuses a glare-free light whose warmth can be regulated by a dimmer switch.

The Journey lamp is available as a table lamp and a wall light.

For wall use, the lamp is available in two versions - one with cord and dimmer, the other without cord or dimmer.

Signe Hytte

Signe Hytte is a purist with a capital P. She finds beauty in the absolute essence of things, where she seeks to remove the most without eliminating the essential.

Before graduating from TEKO Design and Business School in Denmark, Hytte studied aesthetics and culture at the University of Aarhus. “I have a deep desire to do something special without overdoing it,” says Hytte. “Aim for something simple but meaningful, that you feel good about looking at and living with.”

Hytte's starting point is never nothing. It's often some kind of framework like geometry, as seen in his Journey lamp. Here, his starting point was the sphere and a rectangle. “For me, when you turn on the lamp, the sphere is reminiscent of the moon,” Hytte adds.

“The rectangle acts as a cradle for the sphere. A bit like those children's toys, where the impulse of the sphere moves the sphere along a track until it finally lands.

And the journey? “It's about going somewhere. Travelling without travelling. An inner journey, with the lamp lighting the way to new thoughts, new beginnings.”
