Massif stools are striking for their mass effect and stability, like boat anchors.

Available in two versions – bar stool and counter stool – they can be used in casual dining rooms as well as professional spaces.

β€˜The initial idea for Massif came from an ongoing study of bar stools in our studio, looking for new and strong shapes, while ensuring that the seat and footrest were also represented,’ explains Anderssen. β€˜A large disc acts as a support for the feet - it's a bit like we've lifted part of the floor and put it on four legs’.

The Massif stool combines two materials: the seat is oak, the footrest is powder-coated steel.Β

The intuitive design allows users to comfortably adapt to the height of restaurant, hotel or bar counters, as well as that of a breakfast bar or typical kitchen island, while feeling firmly anchored to the floor.

The solid high stool is available in seat heights of 65 and 75 cm and in a range of finishes.Β

Anderssen & Voll

Anderssen & Voll are among Norway's most prominent and accomplished designers. Together they have been named Norwegian and Scandinavian Designers of the Year, and have received numerous international awards for their work in furniture, lighting and home accessories.

On their philosophy: β€˜A good product builds on and extends tradition while simultaneously breaking the rules of that tradition. Modifications and elements of surprise, as well as less radical changes, stimulate reflection, even from those who are not particularly interested in design. This small second of reflection is an opportunity to communicate with users - that's what we strive to exploit.’

Andersson & Voll's studio is located in the heart of Oslo, in one of the region's oldest buildings dating back to 1802. It is next to the beautiful Akerselva River, an area that is home to several design studios and art schools.
