Designed to transcend the boundary between residential and commercial, the Meantime collection comprises a single-seater chaise longue, a two-seater sofa and a three-seater sofa.
The shape of Meantime is reminiscent of the furniture found in the liminal spaces of transport waiting rooms. These pieces are often created by architects and designers to blend discreetly into their surroundings, while providing comfort for travelers or people passing through.
Torbjørn Anderssen: “The counter-movement between the armrests and the shell on which the cushions rest is the DNA of the project. We've taken what could be described as a universal feature of public transport furniture and domesticated it.
We like to think that when you're sitting in this kind of space, you're generally waiting for something good to happen, hence the name, Meantime”.
Composed of a lightweight frame resting on a cast aluminum cradle, slim, loose cushions configure themselves to present a solid sofa body with parallel lines perpendicular to the arms that extend outward - the defining characteristic of the collection.
The materials used in the Meantime collection are carefully selected to ensure durability while maintaining a sense of optical weightlessness.
Legs are cast aluminum, in black powder-coated finish or polished aluminum. The armrests are in steel and the frame in wood, providing a solid base for the soft cushions.
