Lampes GRAS Bernard-Albin Gras, 1921

Like many designs that marked their era, the Gras lamp is the fruit of the technical ingenuity of an engineer, Bernard-Albin Gras, who created from 1921 a collection of workshop lamps equipped with a system of The particularly ingenious joint, without screws or welding, which made it particularly reliable and practical.

Endowed with a strong aesthetic sense, Bernard-Albin Gras knew how to highlight his invention with clean and functional lines, which appealed to numerous creators such as Le Corbusier, Robert Mallet-Stevens, Jacques Ruhlmann, Eileen Gray, Sonia Delaunay and even Georges Braque.

The Gras lamp soon found itself elevated to the rank of design object, present almost everywhere in the world, whether in private interiors, painter's workshops or architectural studios. Having become impossible to find, collected in Europe, the United States and Japan, the Gras lamp has been carefully reissued since 2008 by DCW éditions, exclusive holders of the rights inherited from Bernard-Albin Gras.
