What is the ideal height for a bar stool?

The gap between bar height and seat height should be around 25 to 30 cm, to allow easy leg movement and good posture. That's why most Scandinavian high stools come in two seat heights to match the most common bar and high table heights:

• the counter stools, with a seat height of around 65 cm, are suitable for tables around 90 / 95 cm high
• the bar stools, with a seat height of around 75 cm, are suitable for tables around 100 / 105 cm high.

What shape of bar stool is most comfortable? 

The most comfortable barstools feature ergonomic backrests to support the lower back: these are known as bar chairs. 

Some bar chairs are equipped with armrests, for those who like to extend the time spent around the table.
