Gubi – Mobilier et Luminaires design Danois

Gubi's Pietra tables take their name (β€œstone” in Italian) from travertine, whose natural patterns are the result of millions of years of geological history.

Each table is made up of six hand-assembled pieces of travertine, creating the illusion of a monolithic block while preserving an unexpected lightness.Β

Hand-polished edges and corners soften the cubic shape, lending a sculptural aspect to the whole.

A raised edge on the tabletop secures objects, adapting the table to a variety of uses: bedside table, accompaniment to a chaise longue or sofa.Β

Available in two sizes, Pietra comes in two finishes: Neutral White with white and grey veins, and Lively Sepia blending browns, tans and greys.

Stine Gam was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1975. She graduated as an architect with a Master's degree in Furniture Design. Enrico Fratesi is Italian, born in 1978. He studied architecture and obtained a master's degree in Industrial Design.

Gam and Fratesi gained experience as architects in several firms in Japan and Scandinavia before opening their own design studio in 2006. The studio is based in Copenhagen, although Gam and Fratesi are constantly on the move between Italy and Denmark, developing and researching new projects.

GamFratesi's language develops as a fusion of tradition and renewal, with an experimental approach to materials and techniques. With their dual traditions, Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi design on the basis of classic Danish furniture based on craftsmanship, integrating an Italian approach to the typically conceptual project. Understanding tradition and actively treating the creative process in the laboratory are the tools used by the studio to evolve.

Lhe results are projects that reflect tradition by incorporating stories, symbols and associations, often expressed through minimalist language. GamFratesi aim to create products that clearly illustrate the process and techniques that created it, reflecting a persistent exploration of the boundary between harmony and discord.

GamFratesi have received major awards: design award Elle Decoration International (EDIDA) as International Young Designer of the Year 2013, Guest of Honor Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair 2014, SΓ©lection Compas en Or / ADI, Nomination Best Designer Icon Design Award 2014, Prix Vico Magistretti by De Padova, Good Design Award by Chicago Atheneum Museum of Architecture, Best Danish Designer 2012 by Bolig Magasin, 'Walk the Plank award 2009β€² and Best Danish designer 2009 by RUM.
