The Seine lamp by Space Copenhagen pays homage to the Parisian river, whose ripples inspired Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard, the design duo of Space Copenhagen, during a spring walk. It is also the first lamp with a patterned blown glass shade in the Gubi catalog β an updated return to a vintage aesthetic, between Scandinavian functionality and a retro atmosphere.
βThis project is an intangible story about moods, sensitivity, and tactility; about depth and layers. The ambition was to create a sober, simple, clean lamp with a strong poetic touch. We are fascinated with glass and its inherent β almost magical β qualities. This collection allows us to make a statement about the nature of glass and what it is capable of. Β»
The Seine collection includes a dimmable table lamp, a ceiling light and a pendant, each featuring a glass dome secured by four metal arms to a hand-finished antique brass base. The bulb is housed in a spherical frosted glass diffuser that consolidates the light from the lamp, creating a soft, textured glow that is further enriched by playing with the pattern on the surface of the outer shade.

Space Copenhagen
Founded in 2005 by Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard RΓΌtzou, Space Copenhagen is a multidisciplinary design studio working with furniture, lighting and fine objects through to art installations, art direction and interior design for private homes, hotels and restaurants.
"We call our approach poetic modernism."Β
The ambition is to innovate by combining opposites: classic and modern, industrial and organic, sculptural and minimal, light and shadow. Duality and contrast. Curiosity, as a human condition, is also a fundamental element.Β
The studio's intuitive approach encompasses designs that are characterised by functionality. At the heart of their concepts is an interest in human behaviour and an aesthetic sense that does not forget the quality and durability of objects.
Space Copenhagen has created quality furniture for some of the world's leading manufacturers such as GUBI, Stellar Works, Fredericia Furniture, & Tradition and Mater. In addition, Space Copenhagen continues to expand its range of high-end interiors internationally, including the award-winning design of the 11 Howard Hotel in New York, the opening of the Stratford in London in spring 2019, and the Geranium and Noma restaurants in Copenhagen.
