13Eighty chairs indoor / outdoor Scholten & Baijings, 2017

Designed by Dutch designers Scholten & Baijings, the 13Eighty chair takes its name from the number of holes that perforate its molded polypropylene shell.

These create an aesthetic feature, where the transparency and the play of shadow and light dramatize the expression of the chair, while the variations in the diameter of the holes provide a feeling of movement. They also have a rainwater drainage function when the chairs are used outdoors.

Available with or without armrests. Stackable.

Scholten & Baijings

Scholten & Baijings is the design studio of Stefan Scholten (b. 1972) and Carole Baijings (b. 1973), located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Founded in 2000, the studio specializes in the design of products, furniture, graphics and exhibitions. They worked on a large number of product typologies, including chairs, ceramics, glassware, textiles, rugs and tableware. They have also worked on concepts for prestigious institutions and brands. Together they have won numerous awards, including the Dutch Design Award, the Wallpaper Design Award and the ELLE Decoration International Design Award. Scholten graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven, while Baijings is a self-taught designer. Perfectionists by nature, their products are distinguished by a judicious use of patterns, colors and graphic elements.
For HAY they have designed a wide selection of different furniture, textiles and accessories. These include 13Eighty, Color Glass, Paper Porcelain, Torchon S&B, Color Carpet and Color Sticks.
