To improve the environmental footprint of its products, Hay replaces traditional varnishes with new, less polluting water-based varnishes. Maintenance is as easy as ever, but the appearance is a little more matte and very natural, akin to soaped wood. 

Wood soaping is a traditional Scandinavian process that consists of saturating the wood fiber with a vegetable soap diluted in water. The touch is very pleasant and the finish extremely natural, as if the wood had not been treated. Requires regular maintenance (every 2/3 months).
