Apex lamp – Hay

John Tree

British designer John Tree took inspiration from the classic Banker's Light and fused archetypal references, interpreting them with his contemporary, colorful sensibility to create the Apex lamp collection, characterized by a roof-shaped folded steel shade on a slim chrome base.

The Apex series is available as a clamp lamp, desk clamp lamp, desk lamp and table lamp, enabling it to be used in a multitude of spaces, from the workspace to the bedroom and every room in the house.

The shade rotates 360 degrees, making it easy to direct the light. Color is a central design element, contrasting with the chrome base.

British-born John Tree is a product and furniture designer based in London. A graduate of Kingston University, he worked for FM Design before developing products for the Sony Design team in its Tokyo, San Francisco and London offices. John then joined Jasper Morrison's studio, before opening his own office in 2016. He currently divides his time between Jasper's studio and his own, where he pushes and explores industrial processes to create contract and domestic furniture, lighting, accessories and electronics. His work has been widely featured in a number of international publications and has won several prestigious design awards. For HAY, John Tree designed the Apex lamp collection.
