The Barro ("red clay" in Portuguese) tableware collection was designed by Portuguese designer Rui Pereira, a connoisseur of the traditions and techniques of using this ancestral material. Â
Made in Portugal from durable terracotta, the Barro collection can be used on its own or mixed with other tableware to create personalized table settings.

Rui Pereira is a Portuguese product designer whose fascination with learning about different cultures led him to live first in Valencia and Milan, then in Copenhagen, where he currently resides. He seeks to find new perspectives and experiences by redefining product typologies, while exploring the potential of materials and manufacturing techniques. With Pereira Office, he collaborates with international clients and works as head of design and visual direction for HAY. Rui Pereira has also designed the Barro collection of terracotta tableware for HAY and the Chim Chim diffuser in collaboration with Japanese designer Ryosuke Fukasada.
