The name and aesthetics of the Type chair come from the idea of archetype: a form as universal as possible.

Conceived by Danish designer Jonas Trampedach, it is made of aluminum with a silicone coating, which creates a smooth, protective surface.

Type's distinctively shaped back gives it a uniform sculptural expression that reinforces the chair's sense of familiarity while retaining its uniqueness.

Lightweight and stackable, functional and simple, the Type chair fits into a wide variety of indoor and outdoor contexts.

Materials Aluminum with extruded backrest, seat and frame in folded sheet metal. Sandblasted and treated with a weather-resistant silicone coating.

Jonas Trampedach

Designer Jonas Trampedach was born in Denmark in 1974. He studied design at the Danish Design School in 2004, followed by a Masters in Product Design at the Royal College of Art in London in 2009. After returning to Copenhagen in 2010, Jonas established his own studio, where he produces furniture and products in his own designs as well as collaborations with other design companies.
For HAY, Jonas developed the Cornet bar stool.
