Calm wall lamp – Muuto

The Calm wall lamp sheds new light on everyday life. Inspired by nature and organic lighting, it diffuses a versatile atmospheric light thanks to the fabric covering the diffuser. 

"Scandinavian design is characterised in part by its respect for nature in terms of materials and light, which is what I wanted to imbue the Calm wall lamp with, by creating a light that is not tamed, but instead has an organic flow", explains Aleksej Iskos.

The idea was born, as is often the case, out of everyday life. Iskos is an observer. As he landed at Copenhagen airport, he passed a luminous sign and stopped. Printed on a textile material, the advertisement lit up with an extraordinary and pleasant glow. He was captivated by the way the light travelled through the material.

Although functional by nature, this lamp is also a work of art in its own right. Its textile surface gently diffuses the light, forming a gradation from edge to centre.  The light disperses naturally from the central light source, a gentle transition that is easy on the eyes. A matt elastic band frames the Calm wall lamp, adding a touch of sharpness to the softness of the organic design. It is available in three different sizes.

What makes it unique is its approach to light itself, which allows users to intuitively adjust its temperature and tailor it to their needs and preferences. "It lets you experience everyday life in a different way, from a new angle," adds Iskos.
