Samuli Naamanka

Interior designer (born in 1969) Samuli Naamanka is particularly interested in the development and use of new materials in her creations. “I usually aim for a new structural solution with an innovative aesthetic. When everything clicks into place and the piece takes shape, it becomes natural to design a whole range around the first idea. Also, it is absolutely necessary to keep in mind the heart of the collection, namely for whom we are designing the product.” Samuli Naamanka has notably developed a method which makes it possible to engrave images in concrete. He has recently researched and developed various recyclable natural composite materials from which he has designed both chairs and tableware. For his efforts, the interior designer received an honorable mention from the Finnish Association of Facades, Julkisivuyhdistys, in the Facade Competition in 2004, and received a furniture designer award from the Finnish Association of Architects of interior in 2005. Finally, he received the Nordiska designpriset prize in 2008 at the Stockholm Furniture Fair.
