A blacksmith by training, Stig has long been involved in the design of chairs, bicycles and strollers. The idea was to create a simple and functional piece of furniture that meets a real need. In this case, it was a matter of calming one of the twins while the other was fed.

Stig Leander saw something no one had seen before. He saw a vision of a crib that could truly do something new - in design and function.

Less than a year later, the first series of the now legendary Classic hanging crib was available in selected stores in Denmark. Today, Leander exports to more than 30 countries around the world. Product development, administration and warehousing are located at Leander's headquarters in Silkeborg, Denmark. Production is entrusted to long-term cooperation partners in different parts of Europe.

The design of the Classic hanging cradle was created from the idea of meeting a specific need and with the desire to make a difference, and this desire characterizes all Stig Leander designs.

Leander is a furniture company, but it's not just about designing furniture. It's about creating furniture that inspires and stimulates play, movement and creativity. Furniture that encourages the development of children and makes everyday life with them a little easier.

At Leander, we believe in form, function and honest materials, and we believe that the best ideas are born out of need.

Leander always sticks to the same design philosophy that is the origin of everything: form and function, the furniture should adapt to the child and not the other way around. This is why Leander is not just a furniture company. It is a philosophy, a feeling and an approach to materials, form and function.

Stig Leander is the designer of all Leander furniture. Stig doesn't draw, he dreams and feels. He does not use a computer or notepad. As an artist, he shapes furniture with his hands and eyes. He questions the properties and possibilities using cardboard, glue and wood until the result is satisfactory.

Stig has an incredible eye for design and function. Passionate about craftsmanship and very curious, he explores the materials he works with and sees opportunities rather than limitations. When Stig is in his studio designing, he always focuses on the child or adult who will use the piece of furniture. The need to be covered.

Behind each piece of furniture lies a well-thought-out vision and good know-how. By choosing Leander furniture, you are not only investing in furniture for a child, but in furniture that can be inherited. This is what Leander calls responsibility and sustainability.
