Chub is a range of wooden bowls with a bouncy silhouette, created by Finnish designer Sami Kallio. With a design as playful as it is minimalist, the Chub bowl stands out for its obvious solidity, a tribute to the enduring quality of the solid wood decorative objects that populated the designer's childhood in the 1970s.
Made from FSCยฎ-certified solid ash, the Chub bowl features four thick feet, each set almost monolithically in a corner. On these legs rests the bowl itself, whose elegant curvature makes it a design object as functional as it is decorative. Sami Kallio explains: โI wanted to create an object that was part podium, part bowl, sculptural enough to stand on its own, yet simple enough to showcase its contents.โ
The Chub bowl comes in three sizes and three colors - bright red, ash and warm gray - that echo Normann Copenhagen's iconic palette, while emphasizing the sleek design of its silhouette. These shades have been carefully selected to ensure that Chub fits in with monochrome or more colorful interiors.

Sami Kallio
Sami Kallio was born in Finland and raised in Sweden, where he honed his skills in traditional wood crafts such as compression molding and woodturning. An award-winning designer with a studio based in Gothenburg, Kallio creates furniture and interiors that translate classic forms into contemporary expressions with an industrial aesthetic that resonates with a modern-minded audience.
Both man and machine play a role in many of Kallio's creations. A fusion of modern industrial manufacturing methods with artisanal techniques. The result is a refreshing balance between past and present.
The In Between chair and table offer a nod to the past in a timeless, forward-looking design. The interplay between positive and negative space is at the heart of the concept, where form is created by form as well as the gaps between the two. โThis series fuses tradition and revolution, one of &Tradition's founding principles,โ notes Martin Kornbek Hansen. โThe manufacturing techniques and use of wood are rooted in our Nordic heritage. An important aspect of our designs that we are keen to keep alive.โย
