The design of the Fyr stool from Normann Copenhagen combines simplicity and quality. Fyr features a minimalist design with subtle details, carefully crafted in solid pine. Its versatile design enables Fyr to fulfil a wide range of functions: additional seat, side table, pedestal table or even decorative sculpture.
"Fyr" meaning pine in Danish, the name of this stool underlines the uniqueness and durability of this material. The combination of square and round elements results in a perfectly balanced design that exudes strength and elegance. Designer Yuchen Wu set out to create a stool that was practical, simple and attractive, and worked on several sketches before selecting the final design. Yuchen explains the design process: "When designing something as simple as a stool, the challenge is to make it sober and practical, but still interesting. The result is a well-balanced combination of robustness and simplicity, enhanced by details that highlight the pine wood."
The Fyr stool is available in three versions: natural pine, dark brown-stained pine or green-stained pine, all treated with an anti-UV clear varnish. This finish not only protects the surface of the wood, but also limits fading due to sunlight, ensuring that you can enjoy your Fyr stool for many years to come.

Yuchen's upbringing in the picturesque countryside of Taiwan, surrounded by natural beauties such as the sea and mountains, became an important source of inspiration in her design work. With a lifelong passion for art and design, she pursued design studies with the aim of creating objects that enrich people's lives.
After completing her studies, Yuchen worked in a design studio in Taiwan, where she was exposed to a variety of design projects. It was during this time that she discovered her vocation for designing furniture and accessories. In order to gain international design experience, Yuchen decided to explore the industry abroad and eventually landed in Denmark, where she now works as an in-house designer at Normann Copenhagen.
Yuchen's design philosophy focuses on finding a harmonious balance between aesthetics and functionality. Her aim is to create objects that are not only practical for everyday use, but also imbued with beauty and poetry. To achieve this, she begins her design process by weaving a story into the idea, then focusing on the technical aspects. In addition, Yuchen prioritizes sustainability in her design process and seeks sustainable solutions to the challenges she encounters.
Yuchen's inspiration comes from her observations of how people interact with design in everyday life, public furniture design and vintage designs, which she reinterprets to create modern versions suited to contemporary life.
