Table basse Sculp Simon Legald, 2023

Sculp is a sculptural coffee table with a fluid, organic silhouette that doesn't go unnoticed. Its delicately curved shape creates a striking contrast with the material used, carefully crafted straight planks of solid ash. To achieve a design characterized by freedom and imperfection, the shape was drawn freehand. The result is a table characterized by imperfect lines, visible in particular in the dynamic perimeter of the top and in its elliptical legs, with an unconventional yet attractive design.

Sculp is made entirely from solid ash wood, a testament to exceptional craftsmanship. This table comes in two models, a smaller and a larger one, with three and four precisely balanced legs respectively. The smaller table nicely complements the larger one, and slides easily and elegantly underneath to form a practical and visually harmonious nesting set. The solid ash wood, carefully stained a sophisticated dark brown, exudes a refined elegance that further enhances Sculp's beauty.

Simon Legald

Simon Legald graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2012. He has worked on the development of numerous products from small to large scale. Legald's designs are the result of an exchange between craft and industry. In his work, he emphasizes the structure of the product, which becomes intrinsic to the design.

"Honesty is what makes a product intelligible and defines its functionality. If you understand the product, then there's no need for explanations. The very purpose of my designs is to be bought and used. So they have to meet functional needs as well as psychological and aesthetic ones. For me, simplicity is what describes the true identity of objects. In my designs, I try not to add superfluous details. All this gives the products a simple, honest expression."
