Ace Sofa & Lounge chair Hans Hornemann, 2016

Danish designer Hans Hornemann drew his inspiration for the Ace series from life in Copenhagen. The series is aimed at city dwellers who value quality and aesthetics, but who must also adapt to the city's limited living space. With a recurring design trait of friendly, organic lines, Ace offers maximum comfort in condensed form.

When designing Ace, Hans Hornemann worked on the basic components of a chair - back, seat and legs - and created a functional and aesthetic design with a smaller stature than traditional lounge furniture.

The design strikes a fine balance between the refined and the casual. Rounded contours emphasize the inviting volume of the full upholstery and are elegantly framed by piping around the seat and back. A backward-sloping backrest and sloping legs lend a timeless, nonchalant look and attitude.

Hans Hornemann

Hans Hornemann

Young Danish designer Hans Hornemann graduated in Industrial Design Engineering from Aalborg University 2014. Hans Hornemann emphasizes the combination of aesthetic simplicity and high functionality in expressive, lightweight design. He is fascinated by industrial and technical design solutions in terms of material and mode of expression. Natural materials often inspire him, and he strives to strip down design and show the honesty of materials.

ย

"In my opinion, design should be a balance between aesthetic minimalism and functionality with a user-friendly experience. As a designer, I want to be true to the material used to enhance and emphasize its natural qualities and characteristics. Minimalist lines that add a new twist to classic design. When creating a product, I think it's important to start from scratch and make a new contribution to the idiom, expression or functionality of products. "
