Design & features
The Two-Layer suspension features a hand-blown glass shade, whose undulating surface creates unique optical effects depending on the viewing angle. The shade combines transparent and frosted glass, providing abundant yet glare-free light. The design plays on the contrast between glossy and matt finishes, giving the lamp a sculptural look, almost like a self-contained work of light.
Thomas Bentzen designed this pendant to meet two needs: a functional directional light, ideal for illuminating a table, for example, and a soft ambient light that creates a warm atmosphere. With an integrated LED source (GX53, max. 9W, 2700K), the lamp is dimmable, allowing light intensity to be adjusted as required. Its dimensions (height 51.5 cm, diameter 37.5 cm, cable length 3.5 m) make it versatile, perfect for spaces such as the dining room, living room or even an entrance hall.
Materials & manufacture
True to the tradition of Danish design, the Two-Layer showcases quality materials and meticulous craftsmanship. The shade is made from blown glass, while the structure comprises a perforated steel grid, a steel suspension tube and an injection-molded diffuser. Available in a range of colors (black, gray, olive), it adapts to a variety of interior styles, while retaining an elegant sobriety.
Thomas Bentzen's philosophy
Thomas Bentzen, known for his simple, functional approach, explains that the Two-Layer merges two types of light into a single object, reflecting his desire to create products that are both practical and aesthetically pleasing. Firmly rooted in Scandinavian heritage, here he explores the possibilities offered by modern materials and innovative production techniques, while remaining true to an honest, poetic expression.
Use & atmosphere
This pendant is ideal for spaces where lighting needs to be both useful and decorative. It's perfect above a dining table, where it provides focused light, or in a living room for a touch of discreet sophistication. Its minimalist design and play of light make it an object that enriches space without cluttering it up.
