Børge Mogensen presented the BM0121 dining table in 1952 at the Spring Exhibition of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen, Denmark, as part of a series of democratic furniture designed for small homes.

Renowned for his ability to design furniture for everyday use without neglecting its aesthetic appeal, Børge Mogensen has not departed from his philosophy in designing this dining table.
Though simple at first glance, the BM0121 table reveals to the discerning eye a number of intricate details that testify to a high degree of technical sophistication.
For example, the tabletop, only 19 mm thick, gives Mogensen's table a particularly airy and elegant appearance, without sacrificing stability, thanks to the ingeniously shaped steel profiles underneath.
In the same way, the concave apron elongates the silhouette while leaving ample legroom for guests. Finally, the slightly tapered legs complete the overall look of the table.
As Mogensen's design has not survived the decades, Carl Hansen & Søn has recreated the table based on one of the original models, carefully measured by hand.
Designed for four people, this dining table can easily accommodate six, thanks to its classic solid oak extension leaf, which can be pulled out to increase the tabletop's usable surface.
Knud Erik Hansen, CEO and third-generation owner of Carl Hansen & Son, states:
“We've long wanted to present a circular dining table that matches our many iconic chairs. Børge Mogensen's table also fits perfectly into a contemporary context where global urbanization is reducing living space for many people. The need for flexible interior design solutions that are optimized for small spaces is therefore clear.”
