Finish Pine
Concept and design
Panton Wire is made from 5 mm steel wire, available in chrome-plated or lacquered finishes in colors such as Snow, Black, Monarch and Pine. Their open structure, realized in simple geometric shapes, reflects Panton's love of clean lines and functional designs that stimulate the imagination. The system is available in several sizes and depths.
The design is intended to be both practical and aesthetic: the units can be used on their own as side tables or shelves, or combined to create more complex configurations, such as bookcases, partitions or room dividers.
Each module comes with matching clips for assembly and brackets for wall mounting, offering maximum flexibility.
Functionality
On the floor, a Panton Wire Single can support up to 40 kg, while wall-mounted, it holds around 10 kg. The Panton Wire Extended, on the other hand, is limited to 10 kg, whether floor or wall-mounted, provided the load is well distributed.
Accessories such as trays (in smoked glass, marble, or lacquered MDF in a variety of colors) and intermediate shelves enable the system to be further customized as required.
Collaboration with Montana
Montana's production of Panton Wire is part of a historic collaboration between Verner Panton and Peter J. Lassen, the company's founder. Their meeting in 1956 marked the beginning of a friendship and creative dialogue that has given rise to a number of iconic pieces.
Montana, founded in 1982, continues this legacy by manufacturing these designs in Denmark, with a focus on quality and sustainability, aligned with high environmental standards.
Heritage and modernity
Although conceived in the 1970s, the Panton Wire remains timeless. Its geometric simplicity and airy appearance make it adaptable to any contemporary interior. Panton himself saw this type of design as a way of playing with space and perception, capturing the colors and light of the environment. Today, it's considered a collector's item that combines logic, creativity and a touch of industrial elegance.
In short, Verner Panton's Panton Wire, manufactured by Montana, is much more than a simple storage system: it embodies a vision of design where functionality and beauty coexist harmoniously, while offering freedom of expression to those who use them.
Verner Panton
Verner Panton (1926-1998) was an inspiring and colorful personality. A singular individual with an innate sense of color, form, light and space.
Verner Panton studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen before working for Arne Jacobsen's architectural practice. He set up his own design studio in 1955.
Over the course of his career, Verner Panton created a series of modern lamps and furniture unlike any of his Scandinavian contemporaries. Driven by an unshakeable faith in the unlimited possibilities of form, he succeeded in creating a new set of theories about how lighting and furniture should function and influence their surroundings.
