The Kivi collection, designed by Finnish designer Heikki Orvola, is an iconic series of glass candle holders that embodies the timeless elegance and exceptional craftsmanship of Scandinavian design. Launched in 1988, this collection has become a classic of Nordic design, widely appreciated for its simplicity and ability to sublimate light.
The name “Kivi”, which means “stone” in Finnish, reflects Orvola's inspiration: organic, pure forms reminiscent of nature's polished pebbles. These small mouth-blown glass objects are distinguished by their minimalist design, a simple, robust cylindrical shape, which highlights the raw beauty of the material and the richness of the colors. The idea was to create an everyday object capable of transforming an ordinary moment into a special experience thanks to the soft, warm glow of a candle.
Kivi candleholders are crafted with remarkable expertise by Iittala's master glassmakers. Unlike some glass objects that are simply tinted on the surface, the color of Kivi is integrated into the mass of the glass, giving them a unique intensity and depth. Available in a wide range of colors, each shade is the result of a specific recipe developed by Iittala.
Glass quality: The rich color and texture of the glass amplify the glow of the flame, creating captivating plays of light.
Timeless simplicity: Their sleek design blends into any interior, from classic to contemporary.
Versatility: They can be used alone or in groups, for a cosy or festive atmosphere.
