Mezzaluna Floor lamp, White – DCW éditions

Originally designed in 1975 by Italian designer Bruno Gecchelin, this half-moon-shaped luminaire (“Mezzaluna” in Italian) marked the 70s and 80s with its elegant aesthetics and powerful lighting, then provided by a halogen source. It quickly became an international bestseller and a benchmark of transalpine design, but fell off the radar because of the technology's high energy consumption and excessive heat.

In 2024, DCW Éditions, a French brand founded in 2008 by Philippe Cazer and Frédéric Winkler, decided to breathe new life into this classic. Under the impetus of Frédéric Winkler and in collaboration with Bruno Gecchelin and his son Lorenzo, also a designer, the Mezzaluna has been re-edited with modern LED technology. This update retains the floor lamp's timeless aesthetic while making it more efficient and energy-saving. With an impressive light output of up to 6000 lumens, it is capable of illuminating an entire room. It's also dimmable thanks to an integrated dimmer on the lamp head, and its light temperature is adjustable (3000K by default, with filters supplied for 2700K and 2300K), offering personalized comfort.

The Mezzaluna also stands out for its versatility: its height is adjustable thanks to a telescopic system (from 184 to 221 cm approx.), and its pivoting head allows light to be directed as required. Made from quality materials such as steel, aluminum and a white marble base, it combines robustness and refinement. Originally available in black and white, it is now available in an expanded palette including red, yellow, carbon blue and chrome, hues inspired by the famous Lampe Gras, another icon reissued by DCW.
