Solicited by Gino Sarfatti to investigate the possibilities offered by new technologies and materials, the two architects designed a suspension that encapsulates the two souls of the Arteluce brand: the love of glass, used for the opaline diffuser, and the bold use of methacrylate, a (then new) lighter and stronger material, perfect for interpreting modernity by combining craftsmanship and industry.
With the reissue of this iconic lamp, Astep continues its work of rediscovering the great Italian masters of light, while pursuing the same pioneering spirit in materials research that animated Albini, Helg and Sarfatti.
It does so by integrating environmental sensitivity into the equation through the use of green cast, a 100% recycled and recyclable material, patented and manufactured in Italy, which has properties identical to those of classic methacrylate..
