The Taika blue 0.3L mug by Klaus Haapaniemi, created for the Finnish brand Iittala, is an emblematic piece in the Taika collection, whose name means “magic” in Finnish. Launched in 2007, the collection is the result of a collaboration between the vivid imagination of Klaus Haapaniemi, who created the motifs, and the functional, streamlined design of Heikki Orvola, who conceived the shapes.

Design and inspiration

The Taika Blue cup features a deep blue background that serves as a canvas for motifs illustrated by Klaus Haapaniemi. These drawings, inspired by Finnish folklore and tinged with Japanese influences, feature fantastical animals, mythical creatures and natural elements in a dreamlike, narrative style. Against the blue background, the colors of the motifs - often touches of red, white and black - stand out with a particular liveliness and elegance, evoking a night sky or a mysterious sea. Compared to the black version, the blue offers a slightly softer, more calming atmosphere, while remaining true to the collection's enchanting spirit.

With its 0.3 liter capacity, it's perfect for coffee, tea or a hot beverage of your choice, combining visual beauty with functionality.

Materials

Made from high-quality porcelain, the Taika Noire 0.3L mug embodies the durability and versatility so dear to Iittala. It is designed to withstand everyday use: dishwasher, microwave, oven and even freezer safe. This sturdiness, combined with its unique design, makes it both a utilitarian object and a work of art for the table.
