The collaboration between Carl Hansen and Rikke Frost began with the asymmetrical Sideways sofa, followed by the Petal lamp and Sideways pouf.
Today, the Sideways series has been extended to include an lounge chair and a coffee table, distinguished by their classic materials crafted into modern, rounded designs, suitable for both private and public use.
The Sideways armchair and sofa feature an elegant combination of solid wood, upholstery fabric and natural paper cord.
The seat and backrest are upholstered so firmly that the padding remains smooth and wrinkle-free. This is a considerable challenge, one that only the best and most experienced upholsterers can meet.
The backrest is held in place by a structure of wood and paper cord, giving the impression of lightness.
The Sideways round coffee table has a wooden frame and a reversible top with two different surfaces, in oak or walnut on one side and laminate on the other. A version with Italian marble is also available.
The top rests on brass fittings that contrast beautifully with the wooden frame. Rikke Frost has designed the Sideways coffee table with a shelf, allowing you to put away your cell phone, iPad or remote control, and enjoy the moment and disconnect.
The shape of the asymmetrical Sideways sofa is an invitation to conversation. The sofa prototype on Danmarks Radio's “Denmark's Next Classic” TV show, where it won first place in its category.

Rikke Frost
