Anderssen & Voll
Anderssen & Voll are among Norway's most prominent and accomplished designers. Together they have been named Norwegian and Scandinavian Designers of the Year, and have received numerous international awards for their work in furniture, lighting and home accessories.
On their philosophy: "A good product builds on and extends tradition while simultaneously breaking the rules of that tradition. Modifications and elements of surprise, as well as less radical changes, stimulate reflection, even from those not particularly interested in design. This small second of reflection is an opportunity to communicate with users - that's what we strive to exploit."
A long-standing studio: Andersson & Voll's studio is located in the heart of Oslo, in one of the region's oldest buildings dating back to 1802. It is next to the beautiful Akerselva River, an area that is home to several design studios and art schools.
On Scandinavian design: "Scandinavian design is not just a label to stick on products. It's a commitment on the part of Muuto to let the brand develop dynamically, in the company of emerging ideas and the concerns of young Scandinavian designers. The term functions as an invitation, a challenge and a motivating element for us as designers."
