Noche rugs, hand-knotted and made with jute fiber, appeal to the senses, returning to the essentials of life. Fresh and rustic, these rugs have exceptional properties specific to jute.

Called "golden fiber" for its shine, jute is a plant that grows in tropical regions, especially in India and Bangladesh. Among its properties, we will remember that it is 100% biodegradable and recyclable, that it does not harm the environment and that it is one of the most resistant plant fibers with insulating and antistatic properties.

Nani Marquina & Ariadna Miquel

True to her roots, Nani Marquina launched her brand in 1987, at a time when contemporary rugs did not exist in Spain.

After studying industrial design at La Massana Escuela in Barcelona and enjoying the success of her first custom textile designs, Nani launched nanimarquina, a brand dedicated to the design, creation and distribution of rugs and home textile products, based on values such as observation, innovation and enthusiasm, with the aim of using traditional craftsmanship and techniques to create contemporary pieces.

In 1993, Nani Marquina embarked on a bold venture: she moved factories to northern India. The integration of craftsmanship and tradition as a new design concept marked a clear difference, consolidating the brand.

Over the years, the brand has won numerous awards such as the National Design Award and the Premi Cambra un Empresarial la Gestió (Chamber Award for Design Management) in 2005, as well as several nominations for the Príncipe Felipe Company Excellence Award. Nani Marquina also recently received the International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge Award from the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, a personal achievement that led to the 2007 FIDEM Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year Award. She has served as president of ADP (professional design association) and Red (Reunión Empresas de Diseño). Since 2014, Nani Marquina has been the president of FAD, Foment de les Arts i Disseny, in Barcelona.

Graduated in Industrial Design from the Elisava School of Design in Barcelona, Ariadna Miquel’s passion for textiles and her curiosity for production techniques allow her to create innovative textures while experimenting with the application of colours.

Miquel received the prestigious ADI-FAD award in 2002. She would go on to participate in various projects for brands such as Alcatel and Bormioli Rocco, taking the opportunity to include her work in the exhibition Reflexus. with Ingo Maurer, at the Santa Monica Art Centre, and the installation Flux Mundis at the MNAC, National Art Museum of Catalonia.

After working with Martín Azúa and Emiliana Design Studio, she joined the design team at nanimarquina in 2003. She has been closely involved in the development of the brand’s collections and those of external collaborators, following each project through to production, hand in hand with suppliers. and artisans. In 2008 and 2009, she served on the board of directors of ADI-FAD.
